GENYOUTH - PARTICIPATED METHODOLOGY FOR THE DETECTION OF GENDER VIOLENCE IN CHILDREN AND TEENS

The KOINE AEQUALITAS Foundation has been recognized with the 1st Prize for Social Innovation in Navarra’s Social Services 2020, awarded by the Government of Navarra and the Tomás and Lydia Recari García Foundation for the GENYOUTH project.

The purpose of the project is to design a tested methodology, validated, applicable and transferable to European level, including among other systems, a tool for objective detection of violence and the risk of it in the minors who may be suffering it in centers of all educational levels in the educational field both in formal and non-formal spaces.

The need arises because there is no methodological tool validated at European level as that applied in health (WHO screening tests AAS – Abuse Assessment Screen and WAST – Women Abuse Screening Tool), to be applied in the educational level formal and in order to detect gender violence suffered by minors directly or indirectly.

Enhance the work of educational professionals

Enhance the work of educational professionals as key agents for the detection and prevention of gender violence suffering children and young people, both in the family and in education, or in other areas of socialization, directly or indirectly, enabling early intervention, personalized and integral to people who suffer it.

Provide formal and non-formal education centers a tool to detect agile and systematically gender violence suffering children and young people directly or indirectly.

Early prevention of gender violence suffering by children and young people

Early prevention of gender violence suffering by children and young people, directly or indirectly, through the implementation of an integrated and defined applied to different educational areas based on a participated methodology.

PARTICIPATING GROUPS

Children from 6 to 18 years

Children from 6 to 18 years in the education system, as potential victims of gender violence and future agents of social change.

Educational field professionals

Educational field professionals, as reference figures in the process of socialization and important agents for detection of gender violence in its intensity intervention with the target population.

ACTIVITIES

  1. Diagnosis of the initial situation about methodologies for prevention and early detection of violence on children and youth, and collection of good practices carried out at European and international level, in education and in other areas such as health.
  2. Design of an investee methodology that includes procedures, tools and instruments that allow early detection of gender violence, direct and indirect, on children and youth. Test and evaluate the methodology, including the necessary amendments to enable validation.
  3. Design and implementation of training programs for professional people from all educational fields in the methodology developed for the early detection of gender violence. Transmission of the knowledge generated, enabling scalability of the project.
